Learn the secrets to kettlebell mastery with the remaining four of the Super Seven Kettlebell movements as taught by Master Instructor Professor Phil Ross, M.S. Module 1 addressed the Kettlebell Swing, Turkish Get-up and the Squat. Module 2 focuses on the Clean, Press, Row and Snatch. The learners will be instructed in the movements and strategies of the Hardstyle, Russian Kettlebell methodology in addition to creation if strength through accessing the stabilizers and improving strength through the full range of motion. The 5 Components of Fitness are all addressed with special attention afforded Muscular Fitness: Strength, Explosive Power and Muscular Endurance.
Learning Objectives: The learner will expand upon the knowledge obtained in Module 1 and apply the tenets of ballistic movement to the Clean and Snatch. Hip drive and proper breathing as well as the packing of shoulder and engagement of the latissimus dorsi in the aforementioned movements as well as the Press and Row. The learner will be provided instruction on cueing all of the aspects of the movements taught.
- Chapter 1: The Kettlebell Clean. The variations, Dual Kettlebell Clean, Single Arm Clean, Bottoms-up Clean and the Alternating Cleans. Learning Objectives: The learner will expand upon the knowledge obtained in Module 1 and apply the tenets of ballistic movement of the Swing to the Clean. Hip drive and proper breathing as well as the packing of shoulder and engagement of the latissimus dorsi. The development of a proper and secure rack position with the elbow tucked into the side and affixed to the lat. The learner will be provided instruction on cueing all of the aspects of the movements taught.
- Chapter 2: The Kettlebell Press. The variations covered are the Strict Press, Dual Kettlebell Press, Push Press Bottoms-up, Waiters Press, Alternating Press and the Floor Press. Learning Objectives: The learner will expand upon the knowledge obtained in Module 1 and apply the tenets of ballistic movement of the Turkish Get-up in terms of the packing of shoulder and engagement of the latissimus dorsi. Building off of the well-developed rack during the Clean segment, we will instruct the learner on how to further lat engagement by employing the “J” motion with the press and the active negative motion to re-rack the kettlebell. The learner will be provided instruction on cueing all of the aspects of the movements taught.
- Chapter 3: The Kettlebell Row. The variations addressed are the Single Arm Row: Square, Narrow, and Skewed Stance. Dual Kettlebell versions include the Dual Kettlebell Row with both the Wide and Narrow Stance. Learning Objectives: The learner will be instructed in how to the pack the shoulder and engage the latissimus dorsi while keeping a solid frame. The development of a proper and secure row position and development of a strong and secure shoulder. The learner will be provided instruction on cueing all of the aspects of the movements taught.
- Chapter 4: The Kettlebell Snatch. The options addressed are the High Pull, Hardstyle Snatch, Dead Start Snatch and the Ground Up Snatch. Learning Objectives: The learner will expand upon the knowledge obtained in Module 1 and apply the tenets of ballistic movement of the Swing to the Snatch.Hip drive and proper breathing as well as the packing of shoulder and engagement of the latissimus dorsi and the emphasis on the pull and punch action. The learner will be provided instruction on cueing all of the aspects of the movements taught.
- Conclusion: This Kettlebell Basics learning module will provide the base for more advanced kettlebell movements while equipping the learned with enough information for effective programming to increase strength, mobility, stability, muscular endurance, explosive power and cardiovascular conditioning.
