Kettlebell Basics 1: Swing, Squat and Get-up

Learn the secrets to kettlebell mastery with the Super Seven Kettlebell movements as taught by Master Instructor Professor Phil Ross, M.S. You will learn the Kettlebell Swing, Clean, Squat, Press, Row, Snatch and the Turkish Get-up. The learners will be instructed in the movements and strategies of the Hardstyle, Russian Kettlebell methodology in addition to creation if strength through accessing the stabilizers and improving strength through the full range of motion. The 5 Components of Fitness are all addressed with special attention afforded Muscular Fitness: Strength, Explosive Power and Muscular Endurance.

  • Chapter 1: The Kettlebell Swing. The variations, deadlift, deadlift drag, Two-Hand Swing, Dead Start Swing, One Arm Swing and the Hand to Hand Swing.
    Learning Objectives: The learner will understand the components of The Kettlebell Swing; Hip Hinge, Lock and Pop of the hips, packing the shoulders and engaging the lats. Rooting with the floor and maintaining a neutral spine. The learner will be provided instruction on cueing all of the aspects of the movements taught.
  • Chapter 2: The Kettlebell Squat. The variations, bodyweight squat, goblet, prying goblet, single rack front squat, single kettlebell bottoms-up squat, dual kettlebell front squat.
    Learning Objectives: The learner will understand the components of The Kettlebell Squat; active negative, bracing, compression and breathing behind the shield. Rooting with the floor and maintaining a neutral spine and depth of the squat.The learner will be provided instruction on cueing all of the aspects of the movements taught.
  • Chapter 3: The Turkish Get-up. Scapular push-ups, Armbar, Lying Side Press, Get-up Sit-up, The Get Down, Full Turkish Get-up, The 5 Count Get-up and the Phil G U
    Learning Objectives: The learner will understand the components of The Turkish Get-up; the importance of packing the shoulder, locking the elbow and maintaining a straight wrist. The importance of the hip hinge, windshield wiper foot sweep movement and the variations. The learner will be provided instruction on cueing all of the aspects of the movements taught.
  • Conclusion: This Kettlebell Basics learning module will provide the base for more advanced kettlebell movements while equipping the learned with enough information for effective programming to increase strength, mobility, stability, muscular endurance, explosive power and cardiovascular conditioning.
